Bug Zapper
During at times when you are having some fun outdoors, for instance, when having a barbecue party or dinner in your lawn, insects really kill your enjoyment as they fly around you or stay on top of your foods. To clear these bothering insects, there are lots of different devices offered in the market today, and one of them is a bug zapper.

A bug zapper, which is more formally known as electrical discharge insect control system is a kind of device used to kill flying insects. This device usually has a light source (UV light) which attracts the insects and electrocuted them when touched with the high voltage wires. The term was derived to the zap sound produced when the insects are killed by the electric shock.
Today, zappers are made with different safety and luring features. They are also come with different designs. But the typical kind of zapper includes the following parts: the housing, which is the exterior component of the device, the one that holds the other parts; the light bulb, which is the one that emits light, usually ultraviolet light that attracts insects; the wire grids or screen, it’s a wire mesh that surrounds that light bulb and contains voltage that kills the insects; and the transformer, which provides electricity to the wire mesh and converts the 120V line voltage to 2000V and more.
The wire mesh grids (usually two) are separated with tiny gaps, enough to fit the tiny bodies of insects. The high voltage of electricity supplied by the transformer is applied with these grids and when the insects attract by the light, they will trapped and electrocuted. The reason why insects are more attracted to UV lights than the visible light is because they can see flower patterns in the prior light.
As the insect flies toward the device, it goes through the spaces between the wire grids and eventually, the current flows to the insect and vaporizes it. A bug zapper can actually kill at least 10, 000 insects in one evening. But there are lots of reviews stating that this zapper is ineffective in killing mosquitoes and are very dismayed because they think that manufacturers only collecting their money. Zappers have a luring feature that only attract those insects which are attracted by UV light. Unfortunately, mosquitoes do not.
There is also another type of zapper which is commonly used by many other people. It is actually look-like a tennis racket, which is rechargeable and can be use to kill flying insects. All you need to do is sway it and let those insects trap to the electrified wires to be electrocuted. It’s also a fun tool which your family can enjoy. It’s just like playing tennis in your lawn but the only difference is you’re hitting insects instead of balls.
Not only these zappers give enjoyment to the family but as well as save environment to the harmful and toxic chemicals that are released when you use sprays. Indeed, having a bug zapper in your house is really a great device to have to kill those pests and fully enjoy your outdoor activities.
